Cruising along the lakeshore

Ciao! 

After we visited Sirmione and especially the Grotte di Catullo, we just cruised along the lakeshore more or less aimlessly. In the evening we decided to stop at Malcesine, one of the most famous cities at Lake Garda. Unfortunatelly the weather wasn't on our side, so we had to flee into a restaurant from an approaching storm. Now looking at the pics, the city can easily be the set of a horrormovie.;)

Nachdem wir Sirmione und die Grotte di Catullo besichtigt hatten, sind wir einfach mehr oder weniger ziellos entlang des Gardasees gecruised. Abends erreichten wir dann Malcesine, einen der berühmtesten Orte des Sees. Leider spielte das Wetter nicht wirklich mit und wir mussten uns wegen eines aufziehenden Gewitters in ein Restaurant verkriechen. Wenn ich mir jetzt die Fotos angucke, könnte man doch leicht einen Horrorfilm dort drehen.;)

Sirmione - Grotte di Catullo

At Lake Garda I didn't expect any ancient sights, but when I went through the ranking on Tripadvisor, I found this roman excavation, the Grottoes of Catullus.  At the end of the peninsula of Sirmione are the ruins of a roman villa from the first century A.D. Unfortunatelly, but totally unnecesserily, I now always compare ancient sights with the excavations of Pompeji and Herkulaneum, which are so extremly well preserved because of the unique circumstances then. So for example here, this is a pretty basic excavation, with not much spectacular to see, except for the small museum, which is quiet interesting. But the complex is very spacious surrounded by beautiful nature, so you can just come here and take a walk and enjoy the view at Lake Garda and Giamaicabeach.

Am Gardasee erwartet man ja eigentlich keine antiken Ausgrabungen, aber als ich wieder bei Tripadvisor das Ranking der Sehenswürdigkeiten durchging, bin ich auf diese römische Ausgrabungsstätte gestossen. Am Ende der Langzunge von Sirmione befindet sich dieser frühere römische Landsitz. Leider vergleiche ich mittlerweile immer den Zustand der jeweiligen Ausgrabungen mit denen in Neapel, was eigentlich Schwachsinn ist, denn der Zustand der dortigen Ausgrabung ist ja auch nur zurückzuführen auf einen einmaligen, aussergewöhnen Umstand. 

Leider ist von diesem Gut nicht viel übrig geblieben und abgesehen von einem kleinen Museum, was interessant ist, würde ich die Grotte di Catullo nur wirklichen Geschichtsjunkies empfehlen. Wer sich aber garnicht für die Ausgrabungen interessiert, kann auf dem weitläufigen Geländer trotzdem einen schönen Spaziergang machen und einen super Blick über den Gardasee und den Giamaicabeach geniessen.

Lately I'm not really motivated to blog, let alone edit the probably 100000 photos I took. Editing sounds quiet time-consuming, but normally I just work on the size and the contrast. I explain my loss of motivation with the rainy weather and the lack of the summer sun. And to top it all, Italy lost against Germany. To cope with my frustration, I had to look at some sunny pics from Italy.

Before I show you the reason we went to Sirmione once again, here are some pics from Sirmione in daylight.

In letzter Zeit bin ich irgendwie wenig motiviert zu bloggen, geschweige denn meine gefühlt 1000000 Fotos vorher zu bearbeiten. Bearbeiten hört sich jetzt ziemlich aufwendig an, meistens änder ich aber nur die Größe und spiele ein wenig am Kontrast herum. Naja, ich führe es auf das Regenwetter und die fehlende Sommersonne zurück. Und zur Krönung verliert Italien auch noch gegen Deutschland. Meinen Frust muss ich jetzt irgendwie bewältigen und mir gute Laune durch schöne, sonnige Italienfotos machen.;)

Bevor ich zu der Sehenswürdigkeit komme, weswegen wir eigentlich schon wieder in Sirmione waren, schmeiss ich mal kurz ein paar Tagesshots aus der Stadt ein.

Outfit Greetings from Sirmione

Day 2 at Lake Garda and once again our path took us to Sirmione. One would think, if you do sightseeing, fashion isn't that important. Not for me! I can not not think about my outfit in the morning. So before turning to the sightseeing part of that day, I'll show you our outfits of that day. And as it seems, as if my sis and my boyfriend love to pose, I sometimes have to force them.:)

Tag2 am Gardasee und wieder führte uns unser Weg nach Sirmione.

Man sollte eigentlich meinen,dass wenn man etwas besichtigt, Mode nicht so wichtig sein sollte. Aber ich kann einfach nicht nicht über mein Outfit am Morgen nachdenken. Bevor wir also zum Sightseeing-Teil von Tag 2 kommen, zeig ich euch erstmal unsere Outfits. Ja, auch ein ganz wichtiger Teil.;) Und so scheinbar bereitwillig meine Sis und mein Freund auf den Fotos posen, oft muss ich sie wirklich nötigen, mehr als nur 1-2 Fotos mit mir zu machen.
