Paris Day 3 - And then they found a party

On top of the Eiffeltower we already heared some cool house mosic coming from the the riverside and we, both nightowls, just expected to find a bar, but even better, we found an openairdisco.

This party was so cool, dancing under the sparkling Eiffeltower to the best Housemusic, that even now from time to time, we still speak about it.

Auf dem Eiffelturm hatten wir ja bereits coole Housemusik von unten gehört und da wir ja sowieso Nachteulen sind, sind wir immer auf der Suche nach Nightlife. Wir hatten natürlich nur mit einer Bar gerechnet und als wir dann eine Openairparty vorfanden, waren wir natürlich umso glücklicher.

Paris - 3 Hours on Tour Eiffel

Probably on every tourist's bucketlist und always worth a visit - The Eiffeltower. This was just my second time and I always enjoy cityviews away from the noise and stress of the crowded streets. And since were nightowls ( as you probably already know;), we're always happy finding a sight, which is open until late at night. So still with that cakebox in hand (previous post), we went upstairs in the late afternoon and we were able to see Paris at day and night. And when we are at a location we really like, you won't get rid of us so easily. Until we saw there was a party on the shore of the Seine...

Ein Eiffelturmbesuch steht bestimmt auf jeder Touriliste und obwohl es so klischeehaft klingt, es ist doch trotzdem einen Besuch wert. Da wir unsere Tagesziele natürlich unserem Tagesrythmus anpassen müssen und da wir absolute Nachteulen sind, suchen wir immer nach einer Sehenswürdigkeit die noch länger, am liebsten bis mitten in die Nacht geöffnet hat. Also sind wir spät Nachmittags hoch und konnten die Aussicht auf Paris bei Tag  und Nacht genießen. Und so schnell kriegt man uns dann nicht runter, bis wir am Ufer der Seine eine Party entdeckten...

Paris - Musée Nissim de Camondo

Since I have a strong love for the 18th century, the Musée Nissim de Camondo seemed very appealing to me immediately after reading about it on Tripadvisor. It is the banker Comte Moïse de Camondo's mansion built in 1911 fully equipped with his collection of 18th century furniture and art. 

Most of the pieces are from the Royal Furniture Repository with some of the finest furniture and objects from the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI, suchlike pieces owned by Ludwigs XVI sister, Madame Élisabeth and Marie Antoinette. His expressed intention was “to recreate an eighteenth-century artistic residence".

Da ich ja ein Faible für das 18.Jahrhundert habe, hat mich das Musee direkt sehr angesprochen, nachdem ich darüber bei Tripadvisor gelesen habe. Bei dem Museum handelt es sich um das Wohnhaus des pariser Bankiers und Kunstsammlers Graf Moïse de Camondo, das er im Stile des Petit Trianon 1914 erbauen ließ. Die Inneneinrichtung besteht hauptsächlich aus Möbel und Teppichen des 18.Jahrhunderts aus der königlichen Möbelkammer mit Objekten u.a. aus dem Besitz  Madame Élisabeth's , Schwester Ludwigs XVI, Marie Antoinette's und Teppichen, die 1678 für die Grande Galerie des Louvre hergestellt worden waren.

Paris - Day 3 - Ringing in my Bday

Our third and last day in Paris was also my actual birthday and while strolling through Montmartre, we found a bakery with the cutest cakes and of course, I had to have one (or two) as my birthday cake. Turned out, that we would carry around this box almost the whole day all across the city. 

As my destination of that day, I chose the Musée Nissim de Camondo, the private mansion of Moïse de Camondo, a banker and art collector of the 19th century, equipped with 18th century french furniture and art.

Since we wanted to get rid of the cakes, we made an unplanned stop at the Parc Monceau, but we just accomplished to eat one of the two, the Lemon Meringue Tarte with that half-a-kilo-meringue.

Now I only found out, which parc it was and that it is probably also worth a proper visit. So here some fun facts about the Parc Monceau, which is right next to the museum.

1- The park was established by Phillippe d'Orléans, a cousin of King Louis XVI in 1778. The parc  nowadays is just half the size it has been before. It contained a miniature ancient Egyptian pyramid, a Roman colonnade, antique statues, a pond of water lilies, a tatar tent, a farmhouse, a Dutch windmill, a temple of Mars, a minaret, an Italian vineyard, an enchanted grotto, and a gothic building serving as a chemistry laboratory.

Unser dritter und letzter Tag war auch mein Geburtstag und während wir durch Montmarte schlenderten, auf dem Weg zum Ausflugsziel des Tages, entdeckten wir eine kleine Bäckerei mit den köstlichsten, kleinen Törtchen und ich musste natürlich mein Geburtstagstörtchen haben, welches wir dann fast den ganzen Tag durch halb Paris trugen. Als Highlight des Tages hatte ich mir das Musée Nissim de Camondo herausgesucht, den  Stadtpalais des Bankiers und Kunstsammlers Moïse de Camondo, eingerichtet mit Möbeln uns Kunst des 18. Jahrhunderts. Auf dem Weg dorthin machten wir einen kleinen, ungeplanten Halt im Parc Monceau, ganz in der Nähe des Museums, um die Törtchen "loszuwerden" und nicht die ganze Zeit mit dem Karton herumlaufen zu müssen, schafften aber nur das Zitronen Meringue Törtchen mit dem halben-Kilo-Baiserhäubchen. 

Fun facts zu dem Park, die ich gerade erst nachgelesen habe: 

- der Park wurde im 18. Jahrhundert vom Herzog von Orléans, Louis-Philippe-Joseph, einem Cousin Ludwigs des 16., angelegt, wobei er heute nur noch die Hälfte des Fläche umfasst. 

- 1797 war er Schauplatz des ersten Fallschirmsprung Europas

- 1876 und 1878 malte Claude Monet zwei Reihen von jeweils 3 Bildern von dem Park.
