Outfit - Venice Day 3 (His &Hers)

One of my main travel tips: Always take a travel flat iron with you or make sure, your clothes are packed in the right way, so they will not crease and you can wear them straight out of your case. Because I didn't take one on my Venice trip,this was my problem on our third day, because now looking at the pics, the other people might have thought, that it was my lunch break and I was working at an ice cream parlor. And to blame for this is the vest, but my top was too creased to wear it on its own.😂 But with my favorite necklace at the moment and my jeansjacket, I could ease the look, so it didn't look too uniform.

Einer meiner Hauptreisetips: Nehme immer ein Reisebügeleisen mit oder pack deine Sachen so, dass sie nicht zerknittert sind und man sie direkt aus dem Koffer anziehen kann. Das war auch mein Problem an Tag 3, denn wenn ich mir jetzt die Fotos ansehe, müssten die Leute gedacht haben,ich hätte gerade Mittagspause und würde in einem Eiskaffee arbeiten. Dies ist aber der Weste geschuldet, die ich über dem Top anziehen musste, dass zu zerknittert war um es alleine zu tragen.😂 Aber mit meiner momentanen Lieblingskette und meiner Jeansjacke konnte ich den Look noch ein wenig auflockern und sah nicht zu uniform aus.

Venice - Day 3 - Onto the Vaporetto

Venice's charme is best experienced by the water. The first two days we explored it on foot and got lost several times in the labyrinth of  narrow alleys. Because many main attractions are situated at the Canale Grande, these can best to be reached by boat, instead of searching and fighting your way through the streets full of people. I have to admit, until day 3 I didn't want to use the Vaporetti (Watertaxis) because I thought they were way too expensive with 20 Euros for just 24 hours. But if you spent some days in Venice, you have to accept the high prices or otherwise you can't do anything there. And this was the best decision we made, while we were there, even though my boyfriend had to force me.:) So in the afternoon we bought the tickets, so we could use them even the next day (because we now know that we start our days not until noon.) So we took the Vaporetto at the main train station and sailed along the Canale Grande with a short stop at the Rialtobridge. The flair is considerably more mesmerizing, because you have a much better view on the historical buildings against a horizon of blue and turquoise.

Den Charme von Venedig nimmt man erst richtig wahr, wenn man es vom Wasser aus erlebt. Die ersten 2 Tage haben wir es ja zu Fuss erkundet und haben uns mehrmals in den Gassen verloren. Einige der Hauptattraktionen sind am Canale Grande gelegen und diese erreicht man natürlich mit dem Boot am schnellsten, anstatt sich einen Weg durch das Labyrinth der Gassen zu suchen. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, noch bis zum 2. Tag war ich gegen die Benutzung des Wassertaxis, nachdem ich mir die Preistafel angeschaut hatte. 20 Euro für für ein Tagesticket? Das empfand ich als Wucher, aber nach ein paar Tagen in Venedig merkt man, dass man einfach die gegebenen Preise akzeptieren muss, sonst kommt man nicht weit. Also haben wir uns das Ticket nachmittags gekauft, so dass wir es am nächsten Tag am Nachmittag auch noch benutzen konnten (da wir ja eh schon wissen,dass wir nicht schaffen schon morgens oder mittags vom Hotel aus zu starten:). Also nahmen wir am Bahnhof direkt das Vaporetto, das uns quer über den Canale Grande in Richtung Markusplatz mit einem kleinen Zwischenstop an der Rialtobrücke schipperte. Und das Flair ist wirklich um ein Vielfaches faszinierender, denn man hat natürlich einen viel besseren Blick auf alles, wie die historischen Gebäude vor einem Horizont aus Blau und Türkis.

Venice - Day 2 - Birthday Evening

Ciao! Finally carnival is over and I have time again to blog. Haha, in reality I didn't really celebrate carnival, besides going on two street parades. I just forgot to blog. Crazy, right?! 

So let's finish with day 2 and my birthday. 

Venice is really one of the most expensive cities, I have ever been to. If you want to find a restaurant with reasonable prices.you have to search for hours.but end up paying the same high price. Like we did. After the Doge's Palace we again walked around to find a not so super expensive restaurant and chose the Pasqualigo. Wrong choice! And so you don't think I just want to talk s***, you can read all the reviews on Tripadvisor. I really have to admit, the food wasn't too bad, even though they put away the chairs and tables around us, while we were eating, the waiter talked to me in broken english, although I was talking italian with him (and he was obviously italian:) and they added a 15% service fee on top of the price in addition to the normal coperto (cover fee).

Ciao! Zum Glück sind die Karnevalstage jetzt um und ich finde wieder Zeit zum Bloggen.  Und das, obwohl ich doch gar nicht viel gefeiert habe. Ich hab irgendwie vergessen etwas zu posten. Crazy.;)

So, kommen wir jetzt zum Ende von Tag 2 und meinem Bday. 

Venedig ist wahrlich eine der teuersten Städte, die ich bisher besichtigt habe und deshalb sind wir an dem Abend nach dem Dogenpalast auch wieder durch die Gassen gestreift, auf der Suche nach einem halbwegs günstigen Restaurant. Aber was zuerst als akzeptabel bzw. nicht überteuert rüberkam, entpuppte sich schnell als Touristenfalle. Naja, wenigstens war das Essen nicht allzu schlecht, auch wenn man uns innerhalb von einer Viertelstunde abgefertigt hat, die Stühle und Tische um uns herum während des Essens weggeräumt wurden, der Kellner extra laut Englisch mit uns sprach, obwohl ich mit ihm Italenisch (und er eindeutig Italiener war:) und auf der Rechnung nicht nur die übliche Copertogebühr zum Preis hinzugefügt wurde, sondern auch noch eine 15prozentige Servicegebühr.

Also das Pasqualigo kann ich schonmal garnicht empfehlen.:)

Venice - Day 2 - Doge's Palace

After we started our day with the visit of Palazzo / Museo Mocenigo and afterwards roamed the alleys for some time including a little snack at the waterfront, next the Doge's Palace was on our agenda, one of the main sights in Venice. For your information, the palace was the Doge's (leader or duke of the venetian republic) residence and administrative headquarter of the former republic of Venice (More information here). Luckily the palazzo was open until late in the evening, so there were just a few other visitors and no queues, so I would really recommend searching for late-night-museum-openings on the internet. I think the word "palace" makes you expect something else, so I would rather describe it as an Renaissance gouvernment building. I'm not sure if you can visit more parts of the palace, because 2 private tours are bookable on the homepage.

Nachdem wir am Anfang des Tages bereits den Palazzo/ Museo Mocenigo besichtigt hatten und danach noch durch die Gassen gewandert sind inklusive eines kurzen Snacks am Ufer,stand dann der Dogenpalast, eine der Hauptsehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt, auf unserer Agenda. Zur Erklärung, der Dogenpalast war der Hauptsitz des Dogen und Regierungs- und Verwaltungssitz der Republik Venedig. (Hier noch eine ausführlichere Beschreibung.)   

An dem Tag hatte der Palast bis spät abends auf und es gab keine Schlangen oder Menschenmassen,daher würde ich empfehlen einmal nach Museumsabenden zu googlen. Ich finde, unter dem Wort Palast kommt einem immer etwas anderes in den Sinn, daher würde ich es eher als Regierungsgebäude bezeichnen. Vor allem sind auch kaum Möbel oder dergleichen verfügbar. Leider weiss ich nicht, ob man noch mehr zu sehen bekommen kann, denn 2 spezielle Touren sind noch buchbar (siehe homepage). Ein Highlight ist aber auch die Überquerung der Seufzerbrücke, die wir bereits am Tag zuvor von draussen bestaunt hatten und die den Palazzo mit dem Gefängnis verbindet.

Venice - Day 2 - From Piazza to Piazza #2

In Venice it can easily happen, that before you even notice - poof - your memory card is full. If you walk from one sight to another, and this can take time, because you can get lost in the alleys and become disoriented (at least we did), you constantly find  photogenic corners. Even the bins in Venice are photo material. The next stop of the day was the Doge's Palace, but before, we walked around, discovered some piazzas, we hadn't seen before and then took a break at the waterfront and found time to picnic and have a birthday drink.:)

In Venedig kann es schnell passieren, dass man nicht aufpasst und schwups - ist die Speicherkarte voll. Wenn man von einer Sehenswürdigkeit zur nächsten läuft, und das kann sich schon mal in die Länge ziehen, da man sich schnell in den Gassen verläuft und die Orientierung verliert, entdeckt man konstant fotogene Ecken. Und sogar Mülleimer werden dann zum Fotomotiv. Nach dem Museum hatten wir als nächstes den Dogenpalast auf unserer Liste, aber kein Zeitlimit, da er an diesem Tag bis spät abends geöffnet war. Also haben wir noch ein paar Plätze erkundet und dann eine Verschnaufpause am Ufer gemacht und uns Zeit zum Anstoßen und für einen kleinen Snack genommen.

Venice - Day 2 - Palazzo Mocenigo

What should you do on your birthday? Of course something, that is really fun for you and you would love to do. And what do I like more, than my beloved "time travels"?! If there is also fashion involved, there is no stopping me. When I planned my trip to Venice with Tripadvisor and read about a fashion and perfume museum, which is located in a baroque palace, I put it on  top of my to-do-list.

We almost didn't find it and wanted to skip our visit, so if you want to visit too, I would recommend using Google Maps or some kind of route planner. In terms of fashion I really expected more, but that didn't bother me much, because the exhibited pieces are still stunning. I just find the fee a little expensive with 8 Euros, because the palace really isn't huge. But if you travel to Venice you really have to accept the overcharged prices. And where can you see so beautiful baroque fashion pieces up close? There is also a perfume museum located in the Palazzo, which is very interesting, because you can learn about the production in past times and in parts it's also interactive. For example you can smell ingredients,read about the process or watch movies.

Was sollte man an seinem Geburtstag natürlich machen: DAS was einem am meisten Spass macht! Und was mag ich mehr, als meine geliebten "Zeitreisen"?!Wenn dann auch noch Mode dazukommt, dann gibt es kein Halten mehr. Als ich bei meinen "Vorrecherchen" für Venedig auf Tripadvisor von einem Mode- und Parfümmuseum in einem barocken Palast gelesen habe, kam dies natürlich an oberste Stelle meiner Liste. Im Falle einer Besichtigung rate ich auf jeden Fall dazu seine Route dorthin gut zu planen, denn wir hatten wirklich Probleme, den Palast zu finden. Der Palazzo ist nicht allzu groß und deshalb mit seinen 8 Euro meiner Mmeinung nach ein wenig überteuert. Aber wo kriegt man schon barocke Kleidung aus nächster Nähe zu sehen? Ich hatte modemässig auch wirklich mehr erwartet, aber das tat meiner Freude keinen Abbruch, denn die Ausstellungsstücke sind für Modefans trotzdem faszinierend.In den folgenden Räumen gibt es noch ein Parfummuseum, dass sich mit der Parfumherstellung in vergangenen Zeiten beschäftigt, welchen in Teilen auch interaktiv ist, da man an verschiedenen Duftbestandteilen riechen kann, Filme schauen oder über die Produktion lesen kann.
