Vienna Day Two - The Imperial Treasury

After clubbing almost all night long, since we can never get enough, we continued with museum sightseeing the next day. Who would have thought?!

The Imperial Treasury is located at the Hofburg, but is actually part of the Museum of Fine Arts, which we visited the day before and where we bought a combined ticket for both locations, because I knew, I definitely wanted to see this collection of jewels, since I'm a little magpie.

Nach unserer Partynacht ging es am nächsten Tag natürlich weiter mit Museen, wer hätte es gedacht?! Die Schatzkammer befindet sich zwar in der Hofburg, zählt aber als Abteilung des Kunsthistorischen Museums. Da wir am Tag zuvor in diesem waren, haben wir uns dort gleich ein Kombiticket für beide Museen geholt. 

Night Out in Vienna

Since we are complete night owls and even get more active at night, I always search the internet for evening events or parties. I found an event in a location called the MuseumsQuartier near our hotel. So after we did sightseeing for some hours, we were quiet hungry and since Tim definitely wanted to eat Schnitzel in Vienna, we went to the well known Figlmüller restaurant and did some windowshopping on our way to the next location. The actual event was almost over, but an afterparty took place, where stayed too long, as we always do.:)

Da wir ja absolute Nachtmenschen sind und in der Nacht noch aktiver werden, gucke ich immer, was das Nightlife der Städte zu bieten hat. In der Nähe unseres Hotels befand sich das Museumsquartier und dort sollte ein Event stattfinden. Nach den Museen waren wir natürlich total ausgehungert und Tim hatte Schnitzelessen auf seiner Wien-Bucketlist, also sind wir zu dem bekannten Restaurant Figlmüller gegangen und danach weiter Richtung Museumsquartier.

Vienna Day 1 - Some city snapshots

On our first full day we managed to visit three museums, the silvercollection, the Sissi Museum and the associated Imperial Apartments, which are all located at the Hofburg and then the Museum of Fine Arts. While we were running from one location to another, I just took a few photos during the daytime, even though I was super amazed by the city's architecture. Behind every corner you get to see more and more impressive buildings and I was surprised over and over again by the dimensions of the buildings, but you get to see more in my following posts.

An unserem ersten Tag in Wien haben wir es geschafft ganze drei Museen "abzuklappern". Die Silberkammer, das Sissi-Museum und die zugehörigen kaiserlichen Apartments, sowie das Kunsthistorische Museum.Und während wir von einer Location zur nächsten gelaufen sind, habe ich nur ein paar wenige Fotos in der Stadt gemacht. Und das, obwohl ich so begeistert von der Architektur der Stadt war bzw. bin. Denn in Wien reiht sich wirklich ein imposantes Gebäude an das nächste und man ist ständig überrascht von den Dimensionen.

Vienna - Outfits Day1

I'm such a Jeans-and-Tshirt-Girl, I always notice. Sounds super boring, but the clothes have to have something special, like this shirt from Stradivarius, which is a hybrid of a shirt and a wraptop. Since we do a lot of sightseeing and walk around for hours, they have to be comfortable and also versatile. And of course, I always wear flats. Also loving Tims Outfit, because the colours are super matching. I think, I now have to force him to just wear button-down shirts.

Ich bemerke immer wieder, dass ich ein absolutes Jeans-und Tshirt-Girl bin. Hört sich erst super langweilig an, aber die Klamotten müssen doch etwas Besonderes haben, wie dieses Tshirt mit der integrierten Wickelbluse.Da wir immer viel Sightseeing machen und dann den ganzen Tag unterwegs sind, müssen die Klamotten auf jeden Fall bequem und auch vielseitig sein, weshalb ich natürlich immer flache Schuhe trage. Tims Outfit gefällt mir aber auch sehr, den die Farbtöne passen ja perfekt. Ab jetzt muss er nur noch Hemden tragen.

Vienna - Museum of Fine Arts Pt.2

Today we continue with the second part of our visit at the Museum of Fine Arts and even more explanations of the exhibits, since I discovered the Google Arts Project. In my previous post I've shown you the egyptian and ancient collection and now you can take a look at amazing pieces from the Collection of Sculpture and Decorative Arts and the Picture Gallery featuring paintings from artists like Caravaggio, Raphael, Rubens and many more.

Heute geht es dann weiter mit dem zweiten Teil des Museums und noch mehr Erläuterungen unter den Kunstwerken, da ich das Google Arts Project entdeckt habe, welches noch bessere Erklärungen zu einigen Werken liefert. Nach meinem vorherigen Blogpost mit der Ägypten- und Antikensammlung folgt nun die Kunstkammer und die Gemäldegalerie.

Vienna - Museum of Fine Arts Pt.1

Already during our visit of the first hall of the Museum (of Fine Arts),the start of the egyptian collection, where we stayed at least one hour, we were super amazed. The building, which was built to gather the Habsburgs' collections in one place, is impressive from the outside and magnificent from the inside and an attraction in itself. No wonder it is considered one of the best museums worldwide, which i can confirm. It starts with the architecture and the premises, which are designed in compliance with the specific department. Then, of course you can see amazing exhibits, that are displayed perfectly with  great composition and lighting. I also have to praise the museums homepage, where you can almost find information about every piece of art and which i included in my blogpost, since I am curious myself and want to know more about the pieces I took pics of. So here is just part 1 with the ancient collection and links for more infos. (just in german, but I just discovered the Google Art Project, where you can also find infos about many of the pieces and the museum itself)

Schon während des Besuchs des Kunsthistorischen Museums, waren wir total begeistert und alleine in der ersten Abteilung der ägyptischen Sammlung verbrachten wir mehr als eine Stunde. Das Gebäude selber wurde zum Zweck der Zusammentragung der immensen Sammlungen der Habsburger gebaut und ist so imposant von Außen und so prunkvoll von Innen, dass es schon alleine deswegen einen Besuch wert ist.  Angefangen bei den Räumlichkeiten selber, die je nach Zeitalter oder Kategorie passend gestaltet sind, über die Zusammenstellung und die Beleuchtung der Objekte. Man hätte es nicht besser machen können. Ich muss außerdem die homepage des Museums loben, denn dort kann man noch mehr über die einzelnen Ausstellungsstücke nachlesen. Ich habe links zu den Infos unter den Fotos eingefügt, denn ich bin selber super neugierig, was ich denn da fotografiert habe.
