Paris - Day 3 - Outfits

So let's start Day 3 with our Outfits of the Day on our way to our next destination.

Paris Day 2 - Through the night

Since probably noone made it to the end of my last blogpost, I can start from there, because today I just have a few pics. 

You see, we're always the last ones, when visiting a museum or sight and they literally have to kick us out. Afterwards, often starving, we walk around looking for food and since we can't decide while beeing hangry, we end up eating some street- or fast food. That also happened that day after visiting the Louvre. We first walked around a bit in the 1. Arrondissement, where the Louvre is located and then decided to take the Metro to Montmartre, where our hotel had been. The bottom line is, that we ate Burgers at Quick Burger next to the Moulin Rouge, but still had an amazing experience, because at one point a horsebox stopped in front of the window, where we were seated and we could watch the mini ponies, who "work" at the Moulin Rouge being escorted. I couldn't believe my eyes and was delirious with joy.

Da ja wahrscheinlich keiner bis zum Ende meines letzten posts "durchgehalten" hat, kann ich ja hier noch einmal ansetzten, denn heute gibt es nur einen Minibeitrag mit den letzten Bildern von Tag 2. Man sieht, wir sind wirklich immer die Letzten in Museen und müssen immer förmlich rausgeschmissen werden. Danach, meistens total ausgehungert, geht's dann immer auf die Suche nach Essen, egal in welcher Form und da wir uns nie für ein Restaurant entscheiden können, wenn wir schon total hangry sind, landen wir dann in irgendeinem Fast-Food-Schuppen oder holen uns etwas auf die Hand, wie auch dieses Mal. Davor sind wir aber noch etwas durch die Innenstadt geschlendert und dann zurück in Richtung Hotel in Montmatre mit der Metro gedüst. Das Ende der Geschichte, wir sind dann im Quick Burger neben dem Moulin Rouge gelandet. Aber der Besuch eines Schnellrestaurants wurde aufgewertet, indem nämlich ein Transporter an der Stelle hielt und die Minipferdchen, die im Moulin Rouge "arbeiten" zu ihrem Wagen eskortiert wurden. Wer mich kennt, kann sich vorstellen, wie ich ausgerastet bin.:)

Paris - Louvre Pt. 4

And we continue with the 4th and last part of my Louvre report. After visiting the Egyptian Collection, we saw the Near Eastern Antiquities, still on the Ground Floor, and went to the first floor, where the Decorative Arts are located and the Galerie d'Apollon, which is spectacular and worth seeing and served as a model for the famous Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Apart from many amazing mural and ceiling paintings, sculptures and tapestries, some french crown jewels are on display, that can be admired. Then you get to the collection, the museum is probably the most known for, the paintings, with its legendary Mona Lisa. When I first sah her many years ago, I was quiet shocked, how tiny she is and that hasn't changed. I think mainly the stories behind and around that picture are the decisive aspect, that made her so popular. You can also see hundreds and hundreds of pieces from masters such as Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Giotto, Botticelli and countless more.

Und weiter geht's mit dem letzten Teil meiner Louvre-Berichterstattung. Von der ägyptischen Sammlung ging es weiter über die Abteilung Naher Osten im Erdgeschoss in den ersten Stock mit der Sammlung der dekorativen Kunst, den Napoleonischen Appartments, sowie der Gallerie d'Apollo mit der Kronjewelensammlung. Allein die Apollogallerie an sich ist extrem sehenswert, welche auch als Vorbild für den Spiegelsaal in Versailles diente, mit ihren wundervollen Wand- und Deckengemälden, Skulpturen und Wandteppichen, ganz zu schweigen von den ausgestellten Schmuckstücken.

Dann ging es zur Abteilung, für die das Museum wahrscheinlich am bekanntesten ist, die Gemäldesammlung mit seiner sagenumwobenen Mona Lisa. Als ich die Mona Lisa das erste Mal vor vielen Jahren sah, war ich echt schockiert, wie klein sie doch ist und das hat sich auch nicht geändert, egal wie oft ich sie sehe. Bei dem Gemälde ist wahrscheinlich die Geschichte und der Mythos der ausschlaggebendste Faktor. Außerdem sind gibt es noch mehr als 7000 weitere Meisterwerke der bekanntesten Künstler zu bestaunen u.a. von Raphael, da Vinci, Giotto, Botticelli and unzählige mehr.

Paris Day 2 - Louvre Pt.3 - Egyptian Collection

As I mentioned before, it is a bit difficult to navigate through the Louvre and sometimes we didn't know, which room on the plan we had seen or not. The egyptian collection though is well organized, with over 50000 objects on two floors of the Sully-Wing andwith more than 50000 objects it is known as one of the best collections outside of Egypt.

Ich hatte ja bereits in meinem letzten Post erwähnt, dass das Louvre ein wenig ungeordnet erscheint. Die ägyptische Sammlung ist jedoch gut zusammengetragen, so dass man sie in einem Stück "durcharbeiten" kann. Sie befindet sich auf zwei Stockwerken des Sully-Flügels, konnte aber nicht komplett chronologisch geordnet werden, da man die großen und schweren Objekte im Erdgeschoss belassen musste. Mit ihren mehr als 50.000 Objekten zählt sie zu den bedeutendsten ägyptischen Sammlungen außerhalb Ägyptens.

Paris Day 2 - Louvre Pt.2

Now, while editing the photos or even thinking back, I noticed, that the Louvre isn't one of the best structured museums, that I've visited before. Even during our visit, it was difficult to navigate the museum and not to miss any room. But you have to remember, that the Louvre wasn't built to be used as a museum at first, but as a residence for the french kings and according to Wikipedia it is the worlds largest museum. So now for me it is difficult to reconstruct the ways we walked, so I can just title todays post as the "sculptures", starting with ancient art like Milo's Venus to Michelangelo's "Slaves".

Wenn ich jetzt die Fotos bearbeite, aber auch zurückdenke, muss ich feststellen, dass das Louvre nicht zu den am besten strukturierten Museen gehört. Selbst während des Besuchs war es schwer, durch das Museum zu navigieren und einen perfekten Weg hindurch zu finden, so dass man auch alle Räume sieht. Aber man muss auch bedenken, dass das Louvre nicht zum Zweck eines Museums erbaut wurde, sondern früher als Königsresidenz diente. Genauso schwer fällt es mir deshalb auch, die Wege, die wir gegangen sind, zu rekonstruieren. Den heutigen post kann ich nur mit "Skulpturen" betiteln, angefangen bei der Antike bis zur Neuzeit, unter anderem mit den bekannten Sklaven Michelangelos und der Venus von Milo.
