Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro & Cathedral

Adjacent to the cathedral of Naples, also known as the Cathedral of San Gennaro, you will find the Museum of the treasure of San Gennaro, full of artworks donated in honor of the eponymous patron saint. You can see a collections of art including jewelry, statues, busts, fabrics and paintings, some of them dating back to 1305. The most impressive piece in my opinion is the necklace of San Gennaro, commissioned in 1679 and which, by that time, just consisted of 13 gold links with diamonds, emeralds and rubies. With donations from kings, queens and other welthy believers, many jewels were added. Also the mitra has to be mentioned, with its over 3964 jewels (3.328 diamonds, 168 rubies and 198 emeralds) and a total weight of 18 kilos.

Angrenzend an die Kathedrale von Neapel, auch bekannt als Duomo di San Gennaro, findet man das Museo del tesoro di San Gennaro, mit der Reliquie des namensgebenden Stadtspatrons, sowie Gold- und Silberschmiedearbeiten, Gemälden und den wohl prunkvollsten Ausstellungsstücken, der Mitra, besetzt mit 3964 Juwelen, sowie dem Kollier, welches über einen Zeitraum von 250 Jahren durch Spenden von  Päpsten, Königen, Kaisern, berühmten und gewöhnlichen Menschen weiter ausgeschmückt wurde.

Neapolitan All Nighter

If there is a main activity during trips, it is definitely strolling around cities until late at night. 

What makes us leave the hotelroom/ apartment in the evening again, is often our craving for some local specialities. And if there is food, there will most likely be a beer or a drink too. And then we don't want to go home anymore. 

So today we are in the historical center of Naples again and some nighty shots.

Wenn eine Sache zu unseren Hauptaktivitäten auf Reisen gehört, ist es, bis spät in die Nacht irgendwo durch die Gegend zu laufen. Meist treibt uns der Hunger aus dem Hotelzimmer/ Ferienwohnung, aber wenn dann noch das ein oder andere Bier dazu kommt, führt kaum noch ein Weg wieder nach Hause.
