Budapest - Following the guy with the rucksack

Even though taking pictures is my favorite hobby, sometimes I wish, that my boyfriend would be behind the camera, so I would be in more of them too. Instead you mostly see him, often in the backround from behind, when I try to get some good shots and he is too impatient to wait.;) 

But let's continue with our walking tour: So after walking around the castle hill for some hours, we returned to the city center, crossing the Széchenyi Chain Bridge and then stopping at the beautiful St. Stephen's Basilica. Through Google Maps I found a huge shopping center near the Parliament, where I didn't take some pics, because we were in a hurry again. We stayed there until it was closing and then were searching for some nice restaurant. We were super indecisive as always, so we just went to a restaurant, which was near our apartment. But in terms of nightlife, Budapest has a lot more to offer than I expected. But since we had to catch a bus the next day to drive to Vienna, we couldn't party too much.:)

Auch wenn ich das Fotografieren liebe, wünschte ich doch manchmal. dass mein Freund sich hinter die Kamera begeben würde, so dass ich auch öfters auf den Fotos wäre.:) Ansonsten sieht man ihn dann natürlich auf jedem 2. Foto von hinten, wenn er man wieder zu ungeduldig ist  um zu warten bis ich meine Fotos fertig geknipst habe und ich dann hinterher rennen muss.:) Das zu meiner Überschrift... ;)

Aber lasst uns mit unserer Stadttour weitermachen: Nachdem wir einige Stunden auf dem Burgberg herumspaziert sind, haben wir uns dann wieder in Richtung Stadtzentrum begeben indem wir die Kettenbrücke überquert haben. Nach einem kurzen Stop in der wundervollen St.-Stephans-Basilikasind wir dann noch in eine Shoppingmall in der Nähe des Parlamentsgebäudes, die noch bis 21 Uhr geöffnet war. Danach waren wir natürlich total ausgehungert und konnten uns deshalb erst recht nicht für eine Bar entscheiden, so dass wir dann einfach in ein kleines Brauhaus gegenüber unseres Apartments gegangen sind. Nightlife-mäßig hat Budapest aber sonst mehr zu bieten, als ich erwartet habe, aber da es am nächsten Tag sowieso mittags mit dem Bus weiter nach Wien gehen sollte, konnten wir uns keine "Feier-eskapaden" leisten.:)

Budapest - Exploring the Castle Hill

The Castle Hill is probably one of the most famous sights of Budapest and the previous day we admired the impressive castle from the other side of the river and also walked to the base of the hill, but decided to return the next day, because it was already early in the evening. After the destruction of the castle during World War 2, the new gouvernment decided to rebuilt but modernise and simplify the interiors and exteriors. And to my dismay, even all the remaining interior, that was undamaged, including some beautiful elements from the baroque era, were destroyed. Only parts of the medieval castle were reconstructed. Now three museums are situated at the Buda Castle such as the Hungarian National Gallery, the the National Széchényi Library and the Budapest History Museum, I was interested in, but which was closed that day. So we just walked around, gazing at the squares, statues and buildings from the outside. Another building on the Castle Hill, which aroused our interest, is the  Fisherman's Bastion, a viewing terrace, with many stairs and walking paths, which looks like a castle from a fantasy movie. Even just for that view on the Danube River and the other bank side, it is worth going up the hill.

Das Burgviertel gehört wohl zu den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten Budapests und schon einen Tag zuvor haben wir die imposante Burg von der anderen Uferseite bestaunt bzw. sind dann auch zum Fuß des Berges gegangen, wobei wir uns dann entschlossen hatten, am nächsten Tag wiederzukommen, da es bereits früher Abend war. In der ehemaligen Burg befinden sich einige Museen, wie die Nationalgalerie, die Nationalbibliothek, sowie das Historische Museum der Stadt Budapest, welches mich interessiert hätte, an dem Tag aber geschlossen war. Also sind wir nur durch die Straßen und über die Plätze des Burgviertels geschlendert und haben die Gebäude von außen bewundert. Das Burgviertel ist ziemlich weitläufig, mit einigen Kirchen, Geschäften und Restaurants. Welches Gebäude uns aber auch sehr beeindruckt hat, ist die Fischerbastei, eine Aussichtsplattform, die eher wie ein Fantasyschloss aussieht. Aber auch alleine für die Aussicht auf die Donau und die andere Uferseite der Stadt lohnt sich ein Aufstieg.
