Italy Day 5 - Capitoline Museums Rome

Ciao. So tomorrow we're going on another short trip to Italy for my boyfriend's birthday. Once again we are flying to Bergamo, but now we want to visit the Lake Garda, because my sister was so fascinated, when she went there 5 month ago after we split at the end of our trip to Milan, when we instead flew to Rome. On our first day in Rome we first went to the Baths of Caracalla, but also wanted to visit a museum I read about on Tripadvisor and one I haven't visited yet, the Capitoline Museums. And now it is one of my favorite museums in Rome. It is definately a little chaotic, but it's very diverse. It consists of several museums, so it offers a picture gallery with paintings from Caravaggio and Rubens, many collections of antiques with the famous Capitoline Wolf and portions of the Temple of Jupiter Optimus and other excibitions. At the time of our visit, there was one about Raffaello. What we also loved, was the Cafe on the roof terrace with an amazing view over Rome and also the tabularium, where you can look over the Forum Romanum.

Ciao! Morgen starten wir dann mal wieder Richtung Italien und fliegen wieder nach Bergamo (Mailand). Diesmal aber nicht mit dem Ziel Mailand, sondern wir begeben uns zum Gardasee. Von diesem war meine Schwester ja so begeistert, nachdem sie dorthin nach unserem gemeinsamen Mailandtrip gefahren ist, wo hingegen wir ja nach Rom geflogen sind.

An unserem ersten Tag in Rom hatten wir neben den Caracallathermen natürlich noch einen 2. Anlaufpunkt und zwar die Kapitolinischen Museen. Diese kannte ich noch nicht, hatte aber viel Gutes bei Tripadvisor darüber gelesen und ich muss sagen, sie gehören jetzt zu meinen Lieblingsmuseen.

Ok, ein wenig chaotisch sind sie schon, aber sie sind wirklich abwechslungsreich, da sie aus verschiedenen Museen bestehen. Zum einen hat man eine tolle Gemäldegallerie mit Bildern von Carvaggio und Rubens, zum anderen gibt es dort diverse Antikenausstellungen, welche die bekannte Capitolinische Wölfin enthält und auch Reste des Kapitolinischen Tempels. Ausserdem hat man Zugang zum Tabularium und von dort einen wunderbaren Blick über das Forum Romanum. Was auch hervoragend ist, ist das Cafe auf der Dachterrasse, wo man ebenso einen super Blick über Rom hat.

Italy - Though ancient Rome - Day 5

Can you believe, that I took these pics in November? I don't. But we were really lucky with the weather or maybe Rome is just a beautiful city including beautiful weather. But for me it's even more incredible, that the trip was 5 month ago. Fortunatelly the next trip is around the courner, so I have to hurry up with my pics from Rome. After we visited The Baths of Caracalla we had in mind one other destination and our way passed by the Collosseum and the Forum Romanum. And how can you not take photos there?!

Can man sich vorstellen, dass diese Fotos im November entstanden sind? Also ich nicht.:) Wir hatten ja mega Glück oder ist in Rom einfach immer gutes Wetter? Aber noch krasser ist, dass der Trip schon wieder 5 Monate her ist. Zum Glück steht schon in geraumer Zeit wieder ein Trip an, weshalb ich mich jetzt dringend mit den Fotos aus Rom ranhalten muss. Nach den Caracallathermen hatten wir noch ein anderes Ziel für den Tag im Auge und der Weg führte uns am Kolloseum und am Forum Romanum vorbei. Natürlich kann man es sich nicht nehmen lassen auch einmal kurz dort zu knipsen.

Italy Day 5 - Rome - Baths of Caracalla

I probably read about the Baths of Caracalla for the first time, when I prepared our first trip to Rome some years ago and browsed through Tripadvisor. And next to the name, I loved the fact, that so many masterpieces, which are of course now on display in museums, where found there. Because time and again we read the name Baths of Caracalla  in many museums, like the National Museum in Naples, who own the enormous Herkules and the Farnese Bull or the Vatican Museums with the mosaics . In advance I have to say, that these ruins are not the best preserved I have seen before and I wouldn't recommend visiting them, if you are not interested in archaeology and/or the roman times. (Ok, I don't think, anyone who is not interested, would have the idea of visiting this sight.;) And maybe I would suggest taking the audioguide, so that it is easier to use your imagination. However they still impress with their enormity and the vision of how beautiful and splendid it must have been there. But even if you are only looking for a quiet place full of history and have a picnic next to collossal buildings, than this is your place.

Von den Caracalla Thermen habe ich wahrscheinlich das erste Mal gelesen, als ich mich für unseren ersten mehrtägigen Romtrip über die Sehenswürdigkeiten auf Tripadvisor erkundigt habe. Und schon alleine der Name gefiel mir.:) Dann sind wir immer wieder darauf gestossen, als wir verschiedene Kunstwerke in Museen gesehen haben, die dort entdeckt wurden, wie z.B. die immense Statue des Herkules oder des Farnese Bullen im Archäologischen Museum in Napoli.

Vorweg kann ich schon einmal erwähnen, dass ich niemandem empfehlen würde, die Caracallathermen zu besichtigen, der sich nicht für Archäologie und/oder die Römerzeit interessiert und nicht dazu noch einiges an Phantasie mitbringt. (Ok, ich denke mal, jemand der sich nicht für die Römerzeit interessiert, würde ja so oder so niemals auf die Idee kommen, sich Ruinen anzuschauen.) Das Entscheidende ist hierbei wirklich nur die Phantasie, deshalb würde ich auch empfehlen, den Audioguide zu benutzen, denn es sind wirklich nurnoch die Grundmauern übrig geblieben. Trotzdem beeindrucken sie durch ihre Größe und die Vorstellung wie unsagbar luxuriös und prunkvoll es dort war. Dennoch, wer einen ruhigen Platz und trotzdem voll mit Geschichte sucht, kann natürlich auch einfach nur in der Sonne neben kollossalen Bauten picknicken.

And once again I had to face a "problem", I had before a while ago. Ok, "problem" sounds as if the world would collide.:) But the question is (once again), how can you choose your most favorites from favorites?
Actually at the moment I'm still working my way through the latest collections from Paris Fashion Week for next fall (on my Pinterest), but because Spring started, it made more sense to show my favorite looks for this saison. But that is easier said than done. I wanted to start with New York, because this is where the Fashion Weeks have their starting point. But how can you select your favorites from 1682 (to be exact) previously selected looks? It's almost impossible. At the beginning I looked through all of the looks from each designer and chose my keylooks from him/her. But after almost 4 hours and just half of the designers, I decided I had to change my strategy. Then I just scrolled down my board and picked the looks that were eye-catching for me. Still difficult,because I just couldn't decide. But otherwise it would had taken me 2 days probably. So with the next city I have to directly change my working method and maybe just show my top 5 shows.:)
Und wieder stand ich vor einem Problem, das ich vor einer Weile schon einmal hatte. Wie sucht man aus seinen Favoriten die liebsten Favoriten herraus? 

Eigentlich bin ich im Moment noch dabei, die letzten Pariser Modewoche mit den kommenden Herbst/Winter-Kollektionen "durchzuarbeiten" (siehe Pinterest), aber da der Frühling da ist, bot es sich ja eher an, meine liebsten Catwalklooks der jetzigen Saison zu präsentieren. Einfacher gesagt als getan. 

Die Fashionweeks starten ja immer in New York und deshalb wollte ich natürlich auch dort anfangen. Aber wie soll man sich bloss durch 1682 bereits gefilterte Looks durcharbeiten und diese nochmal durchfiltern. Ein Ding der Unmöglichkeit! Am Anfang bin ich jede einzelne Kollektion durchgegangen und habe die Keylooks ausgewählt. Nach 4 Stunden wusste ich dann aber, dass ich so niemals fertig werden würde. Also habe ich dann "nurnoch" meine Pinnwand durchgescrollt und habe die Outfits ausgewählt, die mir ins Auge stachen. Was lernt man daraus? Bei den folgenden Städten muss ich direkt anders vorgehen und vielleicht einfach nur meine Top 5 Kollektionen präsentieren.:)

Italy Day 5 - Back in Rome!

Buona Sera!

There we were again! Once again in Rome! Apparently it works, throwing a coin over your shoulder into the Trevifountain. After we spent our summerholidays near Rome in 2013 and did a citytrip in 2012, we came back for a soccermatch. And every time we visited the city, we then thought, that now we have seen everything. And every time we returned, we were wrong, because the city has so much to offer, you will never run out of sights. And of course there are things that you want to see twice (or even more times:) like the Vatican with its enormous buildings, the Trevifountain, the Spanish Steps,...and I can go on and on for hours! This time our hotel was near the Vatican and because the weather was fantastic, we did not hesitate to take a stroll to the St. Peter's Square and also discovered the Piazza Cavour, where we have never been before.

Da waren wir schon wieder! Wieder einmal in Rom! Anscheinend bringt es tatsächlich etwas, eine Münze über die Schulter in den Trevibrunnen zu schmeissen.:) Nachdem wir bereits 2013 unseren Sommer in der Nähe Roms verbracht haben und 2012 nach dem Sommerurlaub einen Städtestop dort eingelegt hatten, zog es uns wegen einem Fussballspiel wieder dorthin. Und jedesmal wenn wir dort waren, dachten wir, wir hätten alles gesehen, aber die Stadt hat ja so imens viel zu bieten, dass einem die Sehenswürdigkeiten scheinbar nie ausgehen. Und, manche Dinge sind ja so beeindruckend, die kann man sich immer wieder anschaun, wie z.B. den Vatikan mit seinen Bauwerken, den Trevibrunnen, die Spanische Treppe...Ach ich könnte noch Stunden so weitermachen.;)Dieses Mal hatten wir ein Hotel in der Nähe des Vatikans und bei dem wunderbaren Sonnenschein haben wir es uns nicht nehmen lassen einen kleinen Spaziergang zum Petersplatz zu machen und haben dann auf der Suche nach einer Ubahnstation noch die Piazza Cavour entdeckt, an der wir bisher auch noch nie waren.
