Venice - Day 1 - 1/4

My main destination for my birthday was Venice and even though I have already been there two times, I felt as if I haven't seen much. Ok, my last visit there was more than 10 years ago, so I didn't remember much. Because Venice is suuper expensive (I would even say "the most expensive city in Italy"), we had our hotel in Venice-Mestre, the part of the city, which is on the mainland, but because it is connected to the historical part/the island by a bridge and the trains and busses run so frequently, this is no problem. On our first day and after a 4 hour long busride from Bergamo to Venice, we just wanted to walk around and capture the spirit of that city. Already when you take the train, it feels unreal, because it seems like the train drives directly to the open sea. And when you arrive there, you feel like entering a theme parc.😊

Venedig war zu meinem Geburtstag das Hauptziel, da wir während unseres Gardaseeaufenthalts eigentlich bereits dorthin wollten. Ich bin bereits zweimal zuvor in der Stadt gewesen, aber das letzte Mal ist auch schon mehr als 10 Jahre her. Da Venedig super teuer ist, hatten wir ein Hotel auf dem Festland, aber da die Stadt im Wasser durch eine Bahnstrecke bzw. Brücke verbunden ist und die Bahnen und Busse auch in regelmäßigem Abstand fahren, war dies gar kein Problem. Am ersten Tag hatten wir kein festes Ziel, da wir eine 4stündige Busfahrt hinter uns hatten und einfach nur ein wenig umherwandern wollten. Schon alleine die Fahrt mit der Bahn wirkt surreal, da es einem so vorkommt, als würde man aufs offene Meer hinausfahren. In der Stadt angekommen,wirkt alles immer noch unwirklich. Als würde man in einen Freizeitpark gehen. 😊
