Rome Day 2 - Hadrian's Villa

After our visit at Hadrian's Villa, my boyfriend and I were on the same page, that this place should be featured in every guidebook of Rome. Strangely enough,that I haven't heard of it before or maybe heard of it, but didn't remember. And even stranger, that it isn't marketed in a larger way. Only this year I stumbled upon it on Tripadvisor, even though we have already visited Rome many times. If you want to visit Rome's surrounding area, I would recommend skipping Ostia antica and rather visit Villa Adriana, because it is more spectacular and better preserved. If you don't go by car and need to use public transportation, it isn't super easy to go there, because you have to change one time. In our case it was like a little adventure in itself, because we took the bus and had to change at the bus station Ponte Mammolo on the outskirts of Rome. The bus station is a bit rundown and we continued our travel in an old bus, where almost everything fell apart. I suggest to take the train to Tivoli station, what we did on our return trip to the roman city center. 

To speak about the site itself, it is really extensive and I think we spent at least 4 hours there. Once again we had to hurry not to miss the last bus. A definite highlight is the Canopus, a pool which is surrounded by statues and collumns at the northern side. It is a great photo location and at the time we have been there, they also filmed something for italian Tv. And when I saw the trailer for "All the money in the world", I also recognized some spots. 

But like I always say, pictures say more than 1000 words...;)

Nachdem wir die Villa Adriana besichtigt hatten, waren wir uns einig, dass diese Sehenswürdigkeit in jedem Rom Reiseführer auftauchen sollte. Komischerweise hatte ich zuvor noch nichts von dem Ort gehört oder aber hatte vielleicht davon irgendwo einmal etwas gelesen, aber es wieder vergessen. Noch mich wundert fast noch mehr, dass diese Sehenswürdigeit nicht in größerem Maß vermarktet wird. Obwohl wir ja bereits einige Male in Rom waren, bin ich dieses Mal erst darüber gestolpert, da ich nach Attraktionen außerhalb Roms gesucht habe. Wenn ihr also etwas in Roms Umland besichtigen wollt, würde ich nicht nach Ostia fahren, sondern lieber die Hadrians Villa vorziehen,denn diese ist besser erhalten und noch spektakulärer. Auch die Landschaft ist schöner und die Stadt Tivoli soll auch sehenswert sein. Wenn man nicht mobil und auf öffentliche Verkehrsmittel angewiesen ist, ist es vielleicht ein wenig schwer dorthin zu kommen, da man umsteigen muss, wie wir auf unserer Hinfahrt, an dem ein wenig heruntergekommen Busbahnhof Ponte Mammolo am Rande des römischen Stadtgebietes. Leichter ist es wenn man den Zug nach Tivoli nimmt, wie wir es auch auf unserem Rückweg gemacht haben und dann 2-3 Stationen mit dem Bus zur Ausgrabung fährt.

Um über die Ausgrabung selber zu sprechen, sie befindet sich auf einem riesigen Areal und man sollte schon mindestens 3 Stunden einplanen. In unserem Fall waren es mal wieder bestimmt 5 Stunden, da wir uns jedes Steinchen 2 mal angucken und uns am Ende wieder beeilen mussten, um nicht den letzten Bus zum Bahnhof zu verpassen. Ein absolutes Highlight ist definitiv der Canopus, ein künstlich angelegter Teich mit einem Säulenrund und Statuen an der Nord-und Längsseite. Zum Zeitpunkt unseres Besuches wurde dort auch für das italienische TV gedreht und es war interessant, die Schauspieler in ihren römischen Kostümen zu beobachten. Außerdem habe ich kürzliche einige Plätze der Villa im Trailer des aktuellen Films "Alles Geld der Welt" wiedererkannt.

Aber wie sage ich immer, Fotos sprechen manchmal (eigentlich immer) mehr als 1000 Worte...;)

Rome Day 2 - Tivoli Outfits

Since we visited Rome a lot of times, we wanted to get away from the city center and discover something new. So I went on my favorite travel website Tripadvisor and searched for some sights nearby and discovered this huge archaeological site of Villa Adriana. Luckily the climate in Rome is great and even one time, some years ago, when we went there in November, it was too hot to wear a jacket.:) So I was able to wear a dress I found at New Yorker month before that trip, which reminded me of Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz. Gingham print was super trendy last year and still is this year, but no matter what, I love that print, especially when it comes in pastel colours.

Da wir während unserer früheren Besuche ja bereits ganz Rom abgegrast haben, wollten wir uns dieses Mal ein wenig vom Stadtern entfernen und bei Tripadvisor, habe ich dann die riesige archäologische Ausgrabung der Villa Adriana gefunden, die mich dann auch magisch angezogen hat. In Rom herrscht ja stets ein angenehmes Klima und so konnte ich mich richtig sommerlich anziehen. Das Kleid habe ich Monate zuvor bei New Yorker gefunden und es hat mich irgendwie total an Dorothy Gale in der Zauberer von Oz erinnert. Ich liebe sowieso den Vichy-Print und am liebsten in Pastelltönen.

Rome - Day 2 - From Vatican to the Spanish Steps

Because we have already been to Rome 4 times, we didn't have any specific destinations on our agenda. But the city is just beautiful and every corner is pleasing  the eye, so just walking around is already fun and you can literally breath in history. So we just started walking from the Vatican to the historic center with short stops at Piazza Navona, Largo Argentina, Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Trajan's Forum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

Da wir Rom schon bereits 4 Mal zuvor besichtigt hatten, gab es keine konkreten Ziele auf unserem Plan. Aber die Stadt bietet so viel fürs Auge, so dass man einfach umherwandern und Geschichte förmlich einatmen kann. Also machten wir uns auf den Weg vom Vatikan in Richtung Altstadt, mit Zwischenstops an der der Piazza Navona, dem Largo Argentina, Kolosseum, Piazza Venezia, Trajanforum, Trevibrunnen und Spanische Treppe.

Rome- Day 2 - St. Peter's

Our first full day in Rome and again we were attracted by the St. Peter's Basilica. Mainly because our hotel was nearby and we also thought about visiting the Vatican Museum again, but because the weather was so good, we walked towards the St. Peter's Square. Even though I visited the Basilica a few times, a visit is always amazing. The architecture is so impressive and gigantic and the atmosphere almost magical. And this is no wonder, because genius-like artists like Bramante and Michelangelo were involved in the construction process. And you can discover so much in each and every corner. The most famous artworks are the Pieta by Michelangelo and Berninis baldachin.

Panasonic Enhancer EH-XT20 Review

Zusammen mit der Produkttest Community Konsumgöttinen und 500 weiteren Testern, durfte ich den Panasonic Enhancer EH-XT20 ausprobieren. Jetzt mit fortschreitendem Alter wird Hautpflege für mich immer wichtiger. Man achtet mehr auf die ersten Fältchen und die Hautbeschaffenheit, daher war ich extrem gespannt darauf, das Gerät zu testen. 

Together with Konsumgöttinen, a product testing community, I got the chance to try out the Panasonic Enhancer EH-XT20. Now with getting older, skincare is more important to me. You pay more attention to your skin texture and fine lines, so I was extremly excited to give it a go.

All roads lead to Rome - Outfits His & Her

Since my 18th birthday I travel somewhere on my great day and as always we were a bit late on booking our flight, so we once again had to use our emerency solution, Blindbooking. And where did they take us again? To Rome, our second home, as we call it now. I also noticed, that I probably know the city better than my hometown due to our several-hour-long walks. So today I start my traveldiary with our outfits from our first full day. If you look out of the window, they may seem out of place, but who doesn't like summery, warm thoughts. 

Leopardprint is one of my favorites and will probably be in fashion forever. I also liked it, because it incorporates to keytrends, shouldercutouts and ruffles. Unexpectedly I found it at C&A, a shop I rarely visit, but I occasionally find nice pieces there. I like to buy jeans there for example,because they always fit perfectly and some are made of high-quality denim.

Who also offer nice quality trousers, regarding the cut and fit, at least in the mens department, are Primark. My boyfriend buys 1 or 2 pairs during each visit. He also wore them in these pics, a Tshirt by Tkmaxx and Sandals by Asos.

Seit meinem 18. Geburtstag mache ich ja bereits einen Städtetrip zu diesem Anlass und wie immer waren wir mit dem Buchen wieder so spät dran, dass uns mal wieder "nur" unsere allseits bekannte "Notlösung" blieb, das Blindbooking. Und wo schickte uns Germanwings mal wieder hin? Rom, unser 2. Zuhause, wie wir es mittlerweile bezeichnen. ir ist sogar aufgefallen, dass ich mich dort durch das stundenlange Herumschlendern wahrscheinlich schon besser auskenne als in meiner Heimatstadt. Heute geht's dann also los mit unseren Outfits des ersten Tages. Ein bißchen unpassend, wenn man im Moment aus dem Fenster schaut, aber so kommt man wenigstens auf sommerliche, warme Gedanken. 

Leoprint ist einer meiner Lieblingsprints und wird wahrscheinlich immer In sein. Ich fand es auch super ansprechend mit den Schultercutouts und Minivolants, da es alle derzeitigen Trends integriert.   Dieses Kleid habe ich durch Zufall bei C&A entdeckt. Ein Geschäft in das ich nur selten einen Abstecher mache, aber ab und zu finde ich dort auch tolle Teile. Jeans kaufe ich dort z.B. super gerne, da sie mir perfekt passen und vom Jeansstoff auch relativ hochwertig sind.

Wer auch eine gute Auswahl an Hosen in Bezug auf Schnitt und Qualität hat, ist, unglaublich aber wahr, Primark, jedenfalls in der Herrenabteilung. Meine Freund holt sich dort bestimmt bei jedem Besuch 1-2 Paar. Hier trägt er z.B. auch ein Paar von dort, ein Tshirt von Tkmaxx und Römersandalen von Asos.
